AFFORDABLE NUTRITION COUNSELING
Because of the Affordable Care Act, insurance carriers now cover nutrition care. Millions of Americans now have access to affordable nutrition counseling.
We are in-network with many insurance plans. Keep in mind that not all plans are equal since nutrition is a specialty. Your plan may not cover nutrition counseling or medical nutrition therapy; moreover, the amount that you owe will depend on the specific health insurance plan you have.
If you have any questions, call the number on your insurance card to learn more about your coverage.
We also recommend you use this insurance script when calling your insurance company to help you determine if your plan covers the nutrition therapy you require.
HOW IT WORKS
Step 1
Are you eligible for one-on-one nutrition counseling?
Licensing laws dictate where we are able to serve clients.
If you are in a green state, we can work with you 1:1.
If you’re in the neighborhood (in North Carolina), stop by! We can meet with you online or in person.
If you’re in a GREEN STATE or would rather meet up on our secure Telehealth platform, we can provide you with individualized online nutrition counseling, one-on-one.
Step 2
Find your in-network provider
Call your insurance provider (number on the back of the card). Have your insurance ID number and *reason for the visit ready (*see below).
Step 3
Am I covered?
Ask these questions:
“Does my plan cover nutritional counseling, diagnosis, or preventative for these CPT codes: 97802, 97803, 97804?”
“Do I need a referral, prior authorization, or get a pre-determination letter before my appointment?”

Step 4
Meet with your dietitian
Get paired with the dietitian that’s right for you. Together, build an individualized nutrition plan based on your specific and unique needs for fertility, prenatal, postpartum, breastfeeding, PCOS, and thyroid health nutrition.
